Finney in his book ‘Character and Claims of Freemasonry’ explains, whilst addressing the Royal Arch degree, ” ‘I am that I am’ is one of the peculiar names of Deity and to use it as above, is to say the least taking the name of God in vain. Such a practice breaks the third commandment, which states: “Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” (Exodus 20:7) Verse 14 explains, “And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.”įor the Royal Arch degree to employ the name of Almighty God in such a blasphemous manner is an abomination before heaven. In Exodus 3:13 we read, “Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?” ![]() They apply the sacred and lofty Name for Almighty God in Scripture to themselves, thus, blasphemously undermining the character and NAME of Jehovah – who revealed Himself to Moses at the burning bush. Here, Masonry takes the holy name that God chooses to identify Himself with as the supreme self-sufficient, omnipotent, omniscience, and omnipresent God and recklessly use it to identify themselves. To which the reply is made, “I – AM – THAT – I – AM.” The Royal Arch degree catechism asks, “Are you a Royal Arch Mason?” This results in a dangerous confusing religious mixture. The teaching of the Royal Arch is a blend of pagan oral tradition and biblical text. ![]() In doing so it makes a complete mockery of the inspired text of the Bible. Here the Lodge takes Old Testament and New testament Scripture quotes and both misinterprets and misapplies them for its own mystical purposes. ![]() He is now qualified to be initiated into the Royal Arch degree. After the Mason travels the first 3 degrees of the Masonic Lodge known as the Blue Lodge (or the Craft Lodge) he advances to the Red Lodge.
